Today’s discovery of yet another ‘unfamiliar’ family

December 14, 2009

Yesterday on my daily walk I saw what looked like a species of an unfamiliar family in flower.

Today I had to resort to the help of my farm hand, Louro, to get some material for pressing. It’s a small tree of some 4-5 m, with leafy branches concentrated at the top.

The petals have waxy texture and the flowers seem to be all pistillate and 5 or 6-merous.

Does anybody recognize the family?
